Job Introduction

Deputy Grounds Manager
Permanent, Full-time 

Wycombe Abbey seeks to appoint a Deputy Grounds Manager to join our wonderful Grounds Team who deliver exceptional support to a world class establishment. The Deputy Grounds Manager will undertake the upkeep and maintenance of the School grounds and gardens and assist the Grounds Manager with the management of the Team and with office-based tasks such as record keeping and Health and Safety related tasks. The Deputy Grounds Manager will deputise for the Grounds Manager in his absence. 

The successful candidate will have a dedicated interest and enthusiasm for groundmanship, with strong skills to present and apply finishing touches to all jobs to ensure they are finished on schedule. The ability to present work well and ensure that all jobs are completed to a high standard is essential. 

The successful candidate will be able to liaise with relevant external suppliers when required by the Grounds Manager and be able to take responsibility for external contractors when carrying out on-site works for the department. 

The successful candidate will possess:
  • NVQ level 3 (as a minimum) in Horticulture/Grounds Maintenance.
  • Spraying Certificates PA1, PA2 and PA6.
  • CS30/CS31 Chainsaw Qualifications.
  • IOSH Certificate.
  • Previous experience handling duties within a similar role.
 
Hours of work: Monday to Friday 07:30 – 15:45 and every fourth Saturday 07:30 – 12:30. Flexible hours, including weekend work, will be required occasionally to meet demand e.g. to support events, the start and end of terms and in adverse weather. 

Salary: £28,000 - £34,000, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
